Visitors to Howick Village will spot flags flying proudly attached to light poles along Picton Street.
They’ve been hoisted into position as part of the upcoming 175th anniversary of the settlers landing at Howick Beach.
A wide range of events is being held around the community as part of the commemorations.
People are invited to get along to Howick Village to see the 175th anniversary flags flying high.
There are numerous memorial items available for sale including 175th anniversary tea towels, key rings, and copies of the book Owairoa to Howick, written by Howick Historian Alan La Roche and published by Times Media.
